Ombre men's coats are smart outerwear for autumn and winter: single-breasted and double-breasted coats, wool-blend styles, trench coats, duffle coats and minimalist hooded coats.
The warmer styles contain wool – from 20% in the short double-breasted coat and duffle coat to 50% in the military double-breasted coat. Interesting options include high-collar coats with an asymmetric fastening and added viscose, and a loose fit coat with a detachable quilted gilet. For the transitional seasons, a belted SLIM FIT trench coat or a coat in scuba knit, which keeps its spring and shape, works well.
Men's coats come in sizes S–XXL. Since you wear them over a blazer or jumper, check the chest measurement in the size chart with room to spare, and the sleeve length – it should cover the shirt cuff. Choose the length to suit your height: a mid-length coat is the most versatile, while a long one looks best on taller builds.
Pair a double-breasted coat or trench with a blazer, shirt and chinos, and a duffle coat with a jumper and jeans. A scarf and gloves from the men's accessories category complete the look. You will find sportier outerwear among men's jackets.
Clean wool-blend coats according to the label, usually by dry cleaning, and store them between seasons on a wide hanger in a garment bag.
Men's coats come in black, navy, graphite, greys and ash, as well as beiges and light brown, and the patterned styles have a subtle, fine texture.
The warmest are coats with the highest wool content, such as the military double-breasted coat with 50% wool. A liner or detachable quilted gilet also adds warmth.
Allow for the layers you wear underneath and check the chest measurement with room to spare in the size chart. The sleeve should cover the shirt cuff.
A single-breasted coat has one row of buttons and a slimmer line. A double-breasted coat has two rows of buttons and a wider overlap, which protects better against the wind.
Clean it according to the label, usually by dry cleaning, and remove dust with a clothes brush. Store it on a wide hanger in a breathable garment bag.
