Ombre women's trousers are mainly wide-leg, high-waisted styles: pleated wide leg trousers, satin trousers, balloon trousers tapered at the ankle, palazzo trousers, cotton trousers with an elasticated waist, and denim.
Most styles have wide, straight legs and a defined waist – belt loops, front pleats, a tie or a gathered elasticated back. Balloon trousers have a loose leg cinched at the ankle with a tab strap, while viscose and polyester styles have a smooth finish with a subtle sheen. Cotton trousers with a distinct texture and an elasticated waist are a comfortable everyday option.
Women's trousers come in sizes S–L or S–XL. Measure your waist and hips and your inside leg length and compare them with the size chart. In high-waisted styles, the waistband should sit at the narrowest point of your waist. Wide legs look best when they reach the ankle or cover the shoe.
Combine high-waisted trousers with shorter tops: a cropped blouse, a tucked-in shirt or a fitted jumper. Throw a short blazer or a waistcoat on top. For summer, choose women's shorts in similar cuts.
